MyDiary: A Personalized Digital Library Using Extended Link Information

Most internet users rely on proximity-based information search mechanism with the help of conventional search engine such as Yahoo, Altavista, etc. The information space used by those search engines is virtually the entire web. This paper proposes a personalized digital library, called MyDiary, which supports a user to reuse his individual information independently. MyDiary provides users to use an easy management of web information through saving, deleting, updating and searching information. A user can build a personalized library efficiently by extended link information instead of holding physical documents. Extended link information, which has several additional attributes, is stored in database. According to use index search mechanism, a user can find predefined partial information rapidly and can surf into a physical web page through link address. As it supports the function of sharing other users’ information, which has a similar taste, a user can search in a big link database. It can generate a XML file, which is made from a list of link information by querying, so as to provide an existing web search engine to use our link information. In this paper, we present a development of personalized library system using extended link information and a link indexing mechanism based on a database management technique for unchangeable web pages in internet.
